What is it like being a COM major?

Being a Comparative Literature major is absolutely wonderful. It enables students to study two languages during their time at Princeton, in a cross-cultural approach to literature and the arts. Due to the set-up of the requirements for the major, the options for study available to a Comp Lit major are endless. No matter what direction the students choose, the faculty is always encouraging and supportive. Students may choose one of four different tracks to follow, allowing for the most freedom in choosing classes to take. Comparative Literature allows the students to explore their passions, whether it is German poetry or French theater. The Department, which is on the smaller side, matches up students with two advisers their junior year, one for each junior paper. Senior year, the students are assigned two to guide their thesis work.

What kind of internships and international experiences have majors had?

As Comp Lit majors need to graduate fluent in one language and at least able to read another, the department encourages and facilitates study abroad opportunities for the students. It is common for a Comp Lit major to spend a semester or a summer abroad.

Why would anyone want to date a COM major?

Because we can pronounce EVERYTHING on the menu.
